winemaker’s comments: Closeburn is our un-oaked Chardonnay. The fruit is grown throughout the Central Otago region and exhibits the regions natural elegant fruit flavours and mineral complexity. An ancient grape variety, historically indigenous to the Tortonese hills, Timorasso, now brought back to life by taking the name Derthona. Timorasso  is one of those wines that could be described as a “red dressed as white”, an overabused expression used to describe white wines with a particular and abundant structure. Winemaker's Notes We hand picked and whole bunch pressed each block separately before vinifying as Individual lots. Fermentations were long and quite cool between 14 and 16 degrees. Judiciously selected noble Botrytis bunches were Included at between 5 and 10% of the overall fruit selection. Lots were blended together after five months on yeast lees, before estate bottling without fining. Lime blossom, peach and red apple on the nose with a long, flavoursome palate of honeydew, pink grapefruit and quince.

This 2022 Killerman's Run Riesling is spritely, inchoate and so tightly coiled at this point that the acidity and the phenolics are seamlessly intertwined. Really great value here—pristine Riesling. From older vines off the Mort Block. This is tightly packed riesling, concentrated and super, extra lemon-limey, a racy number with high refreshment factor and stacks of get up and go. Good perfume that delivers all that citrus but quite a lot of florals in jasmine and lemon blossom too. A little chalkiness to the texture is also a treat.
